How yearly instalment plans work (Brazil)
This article is for Canva users in Brazil who pay for a yearly plan in 12 monthly instalments using a local credit card.
How the yearly plan (12 monthly instalments) works
When you choose a yearly plan with instalments:
- You don't pay Canva directly. The instalments are between you and your bank. Ebanx is the payment intermediary.
- Your bank pays Canva the yearly fee upfront. Expect to see the full charge on your account, this is a temporary hold and will be released within 3 days.
- The charge is then split into 12 monthly payments, charged like any other instalment plan.
- Your credit card limit is reserved for the full amount, like any other instalment plan.
If your statement shows the full yearly amount, this is a temporary hold, not an extra charge. Your bank is holding the full amount as a pending authorisation while it sets up your instalment plan. This hold is typically released within 3 days. You'll still see your regular monthly instalment payments appear separately. If you don't see the first instalment charge within three days, contact Canva support to confirm you're enrolled.
Subscribe to the yearly instalment payments (12x monthly instalments)
To qualify for this option, you must:
- Subscribe on desktop (canva.com in a web browser) to the yearly Canva Pro or Canva Business plan. Instalments are not available in the Canva mobile app, Apple App Store, or Google Play Store.
- Use a local Brazilian credit card that supports online instalment payments. You can’t pay in instalments with a debit card.
- Be a resident of Brazil.
- Pay with a card denominated in BRL (Brazilian Real).
- Have enough credit available to cover the full yearly amount so your bank can set up the instalments.
Cancelling your plan
If you cancel your subscription paid in instalments and have requested a refund, here’s what happens next:
- Review – Our team checks if the request is eligible.
- Approval – If approved, Canva refunds the total yearly charge (or prorated amount) to your bank in a single transaction.
- Bank processing – Your bank processes the reimbursement and returns the amount to you.
Important: We’ll issue your reimbursement in a single transaction. In some cases, your bank may continue charging monthly installments to recover the balance. If this happens, contact your bank directly. Only they can stop or adjust these charges.
Why instalments may continue after cancellation
- The instalment plan is an agreement between you and your bank.
- Canva issues the refund in one lump sum, but your bank may continue charging instalments as part of its adjustment process.
- Canva can’t change these charges. Only your bank can resolve them.
When to expect your funds
- Canva processes approved refunds immediately.
- Your bank controls when the reimbursement appears in your account, meaning that instalments may appear after you have received your full refund from Canva.
- It may take up to 90 days for the funds to appear in your account.
Why do I see the full yearly charge on my credit card statement?
This usually means your bank is holding the full amount as a pending authorisation. You'll still see monthly instalment charges appear as usual.
How long will it take to get reimbursed?
It can take up to 90 days, depending on your bank’s processing time.
